New Designs

So I have some new pendants to work with, and here are the design ideas that I have in mind

I am thinking with this pendant I am going to make a spring or early summer inspired necklace, with chunks of amethyst, peridot, citrine, kyanite, tourmaline, and fluorite...among others I am sure

Bright green calcite...this picture makes it look...odd...but it glows like a firefly! So I am going to make a firefly necklace with greens, black and yellows...I want it to glow like fireflies in the night, so I think I will make the darker colors predominant

Ooooh Moss agate with swirls...I am thinking deep forest cave, all deep colors, malachite, onyx, labradorite, moss agate, iolite, grossular garnet, and so forth..I also want it to have a Celtic feel to it

Larimar and Moonstone...usually with Larimar I make ocean inspired necklaces (how can I not...its Dolphin Stone) I think for a change I am going to make a celestial 'blue moon' kind of piece with onyx, moonstones, iolite, tourmaline and such

Larimar and Citrine...I have promised myself a larimar necklace that I will keep for my personal collection..and this might be the one. It will be a combination of deep sea and sandy beaches that I visited when I was a child in Florida and South Carolina

Drusy Chalcedony...I am going to try something a little odd with this piece...deep forest in winter...snow colors, browns of tree bark, deep greens of the pine needles...Kinda like my first Yule ceremony in GA..the forest and the snow falling...

Ammonite spiraled with citrine, blue topaz, amethsy, smoky quartz, peridot and moonstone...I am thinking the elements and the spiral of life...another really flamboyant piece at least a triple strand if not a quad

I am thinking for this multigem piece, my version of the elements...peridot for earth, amethyst for lightning, smoky quartz for fire, citrine for air, blue topaz for water, and moonstone for spirit. A strange interpretation...but I think lightning is its own element

One word....Nebula! I am going to use charoite, moonstone, larvikite, labradorite...stones that are 'flashy' swirlly, and etheral for a deep space and nebula feel

The Science behind 'me'

It seems that I am always moaning about how crappy my body is...well not this time! I am going to pay homage to the shell that hold my snail like spirit. So here is the list of....

Things I love about my Body!
1. I don't need drugs to enjoy techno music, trippy colors and glowsticks. Thanks to the chemical imbalance in my brain I produce my own form of ecstasy...How lucky am I?

2. I am tiny! I can squeeze into small places and that is extremely useful when things fall into the crack beside the fridge!

3. My leg muscles are really strong, I can lift twice my own weight with them! Very useful when moving furniture....especially the table with my 20 gallon fish tank and 3 5 gallon fish tanks >.<

4 My Eyes are freakish! Nothing will get rid of an annoying person quicker then an evil glare from me. How many people have Bright Gold and Peridot green eyes that are natural or human....I know one other person, and that is my uncle

5. I have a really good memory (and really short attention span ^_-) My brain is an encyclopedia of really useless information that 95% of the population does not need to know...that makes me special and I always have something to talk about

6. I have toxic death farts, true this isn't something to really be proud of...but its something that cant be helped due to a lost gallbladder. I compare myself to an octopus...lets just say its my ink cloud and very useful for making escapes!

7. I have really beautiful sparkling teal antennaes...no...wait...why don't I have antennae!!!!!!?????!?!?!?!

Bettas

I have loads of fish: corydoras, bettas, loaches, goldfishes, guppies, an anostamos and a Bumblee catfish...but of all of the fish my favorite would have to be my five bettas.
I feel so bad for them since it seems that they have gotten the 'short straw' in the fish world, given as gifts, usually kept in tiny bowls, and all but tortured at pet stores. True, it is pretty well known that it is nearly impossible to kill a betta it doesnt mean that they should be treated so. I go into pet stores and see them in their tiny little bottles looking so depressed, as soon as I put them in a bigger tank they become so full of life and personality...who could not love such wonderful little fish. They are the birds of paradise of Fresh Water Aquariums.

Dichro

I rescued Dichro from a pet store that was in the process of remodeling and was really neglecting their pets. This was the only betta there, alone swimming in a tiny jar of skunky water...I had to bring him home! Once I put him in his new home and fed him, he was so full of life. I named him dicho after his unusual dichroic properties (just like alexandrite) I didn't tweak this photo at all, that color play is all his.

Hydra

I have had Hydra for almost a year now, funny thing is, Hydra is a very odd fish. I swear he is a scorpio with his brooding fits and refusal to allow me to get a good picture of him. I tried having him in a tank by himself once...he literally just sat on the bottom looking depressed and refused to eat. Hydra is only happy when surrounded by other fish >.<

Ghost

I just bought Ghost today. No matter which angle I tried to get, I could not capture the brilliant iridescent blue color that seems to not be part of his scales...but seems to glow out of him. He is a very serene fish, content gliding around with the baby guppies that share his tank. A very ghostly Betta

Pepsi

Pepsi, cracks me up, my second 'oldest' fish Pepsi is...well for lack of a better term, an attention whore. As soon as anyone walks near his tank he will flare up and dance, flip and turn loops in the water like an acrobat. If you ignore him or he thinks you aren't giving him enough attention, he will retreat to the back of the tank and sulk like a spoiled baby. He was named Pepsi after his Pepsi can like colors and vibrancy

Squall

Squall was also just bought today, when I first saw him at the pet store I was going to name him Arioch after the god of Chaos in the Elric Saga...but he just does not have the right personality for a lord of entropy. So I named him squall, like a storm squall at sunset. He is a beautiful blend of red, blue, gray and pink. This has to be the most skittish Betta I have ever seen, he was even scared by baby guppies. I hope once he gets used to his surroundings he will relax.

So if you have read this fun tale of my fish and enjoyed this mini-encounter...go rescue a Betta from the evil pet stores that so often neglect them! They are not that difficult to take care of, just get a large fish bowl or small 2-5 gallon tank, fish food, water conditioner, and a live plant and there you go. Your fish will love you forever if you take them out of those tiny little jars or bottles.
